Two Doors … Too Close!

Greetings Door Ding Defenders!

The next couple tips are going to be a bit technical in nature.  I will be displaying my “nerdy engineering side” in the next couple of tips that I hope will …

Help you prevent nasty door dings to your vehicle!

So let’s get started!  As you may know by now from my previous posts, if you want to avoid being “dinged” by another car, you need to park at least a door’s length away from other cars.  Simple, right?  Well not all the time do we have that luxury, especially if you have to park in a crowded campus, entertainment event etc.  So when choosing a spot always try to park next to 4 door vehicles or vans with sliding doors.  Thus, avoid parking next to 2 door vehicles.  Why?  Because 2 door vehicles are commonly designed with longer door widths so that when the door is fully opened, the increase in door travel radius creates a higher opportunity of striking your vehicle.  If you have to park next to a two door vehicle, at least park on the vehicle’s passenger side.  This may lower your “door ding” chances if the other vehicle only has a single occupant.

As always, I welcome your feedback and comments …

Rock on!

Nicholas
